The 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a fantastic entry into the sensational wines from Larkmead in this vintage. It is composed of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot which was sourced from Cortina Gravel and Pleasanton Loam soils and aged in 60% new French Oak. As this slowly begins to unwind it releases gorgeous characteristics of red and dark currants, cherries, licorice, minerals, tobacco, mint and fresh wild herb nuances that all take shape. Medium to full-bodied, this displays outstanding structure along with remarkable overall balance and precision. Everything comes together beautifully as it glides into the long elegant finish that lingers on. This is a stunning wine from Larkmead that is extremely attractive in its youth, but also possesses serious aging potential.
