The 2015 ‘La Magdalena’ red wine is a co-ferment of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Cabernet Franc sourced from the coveted Summit Block at Oakville Ranch high in the eastern red hills of Oakville. This spent 22 months in barrel followed by an additional year in bottle prior to release. The result is an absolutely stunning wine which offers aromas of red and dark currants woven together with exotic spices, licorice, florals, wild sage, tobacco and earthy minerals all soaring from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied, layered and concentrated, backed by big, yet beautifully polished tannins that expand on to the long supple finish, where it shows incredible length. The ‘La Magdalena’ is utterly captivating in this vintage and while simply delicious now, this is without question a wine with serious aging potential.
