The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon from Etude was sourced with fruit from some of the most highly regarded vineyards in Napa Valley, including; Vine Hill Ranch in Oakville, Morisoli Vineyards in Rutherford, Frediani Pickett Road in Calistoga, Schauenstein in St. Helena and Meteor Vineyard in Coombsville. The wine spent 20 months in French oak barrels and as it slowly unwinds it begins to release aromas of blackberries black, red currants, spices, lead pencil, violets, crushed stones and subtle undertones of tilled-soil. On the palate this is medium-plus to full-bodied, with a lovey plush texture that is backed by a core of ripe red and dark currants. Showing notable depth and concentration ending with a long, spice-tinged finish. This is fantastic now, but it will show even better as it begins to soften with a few years of additional bottle age.
