Sourced from the W.S. Keyes Estate Vineyard, which sits high up on Howell Mountain, above the fog line at 1,825 feet. At this elevation the temperatures are cool but moderate, allowing the Merlot extra time to become perfectly ripe. This is quite evident in the wine as this drop-dead gorgeous red immediately opens to profound aromas of beautifully ripe black currants, blueberries and black cherries which are woven together with baking spices, mocha, graphite and hints of loamy soil. This goes on to thoroughly impress with its wonderful full-bodied richness and plush mouthfeel that seamlessly envelops the palate. Dense, layered and concentrated, this continues to pump out flavors of ripe dark fruits, spices and dark chocolate that all build up to the big voluptuous finish. While this is irresistible now, it also has the characteristics to age gracefully for quite some time.
