The 2016 Dancing Bear Ranch is a sensational release from Cakebread Cellars in this vintage. Composed of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc and 3% Merlot, sourced from the 29-acre Dancing Bear Ranch situated between 1,400–1,800 feet on Howell Mountain. This offers a youthful nose with inviting aromas of dark berries and crème de cassis which are woven together with roasted coffee, loam and cherry tobacco all developing in the glass. Full-bodied and voluptuous, with wonderful balance and a gorgeous seamless quality that persists through the enveloping finish. While the this offers wonderful upfront appeal, it will need a bit of time to develop and reach its full potential. Nonetheless, this is an absolutely fantastic showing that will evolve and drink beautifully for years to come.
