The 2015 'Monogram Pinot Noir is a simply magical wine by this famed winery. A barrel selection of the choicest lots, the ‘Monogram’ needs roughly a two hour decant to be fully expressive. After time in the decanter, this awakens to showing amazing aromatic range from peat moss to wet stone to bright red fruits, red rose petals and citrus oil tones that all elevate in the glass. The seductive bouquet brings you back to the glass for more hedonism. Silky smooth on the mouth, the wine evokes an incredibly soft texture. A seriously good combination of red and dark fruits combine with shades of exotic spices, black truffle shavings, forest floor and a dusting of milk chocolate. Complex, layered and downright delicious in its youth, this scintillating wine by Domaine Serene will cellar for the next twenty years. If enjoying in its nascent phase, be sure to afford at least a two hour decant.
