The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is absolutely brilliant, and one of the finest young wines I have ever had the chance to taste from the estate. As this slowly unwinds it begins to release striking aromatics of ripe blackberries and currants that come together with graphite, tobacco, spring florals, exotic spices and hints of dried herbs that all come together and emerge beautifully from the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied, firm and remarkably well structured. It goes on to display incredibly precision, balance and purity all the way through the gorgeous long finish. This is already utterly fascinating today, however it also clearly has the potential to age marvelously for decades to come. Winemakers Braiden Albrecht, and Andy Erickson have crafted an absolute gem, which could ultimately become an all-time classic vintage for Mayacamas.
