The 2017 Palo Blanco is an absolutely brilliant wine from Envinate. Sourced from the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, this 100% Listan Blanco comes from a 1.5ha vineyard of 100 year-old braided vines (cordon trenzado) that are planted to black volcanic sand. The wine itself begins with beautiful aromatics of white nectarines, star fruits, citrus peel, crushed stones and a gorgeous saline character that are nearly impossible to resist. On the palate this continues to impress as it possesses striking overall balance and focus, with bright acidity cutting through the lovely waxy texture which leads up to the mineral laced finish. Wonderful flavors of citrus, oyster shell and crushed stones continue to leave a beautiful lasting impress on this utterly fascinating wine. This is absolutely one of a kind and should not be missed.
