CASCINA BRUNI 'Le Fleur de Sot' 2016

‘Le Fleur de Sot’ is produced from the youngest wines in Sot-Monopole and only in the best vintages. The 2016 is composed of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot and is made using the same techniques as the Grand Vin ‘Sot-Monopole’, with 40-day maceration in French wood Barriques, followed by 18-months in Barriques (70% new and 30% from the prior vintage of the Grand Vin). The wine itself displays an impressive dark, inky color, with aromas of blackberries, macerated dark cherries, licorice, tar and hints of crushed violets that are accented by toasted oak nuances. On the palate this possesses a gorgeous medium to full body with big velvety tannins that frame the core of ripe dark fruits. Showing notable depth and concentration the 2016 is quite an impressive second wine from Cristiano Veglio which should cruise in the cellar for more than a decade.
