In 2016 winemaker Chris Carpenter used 90% Merlot 5.5% Petit Verdot, and 4.5% Tannat from La Jota Vineyard and W.S. Keyes Vineyard on Howell Mountain to make this stunning red. It delivers beautifully perfumed aromatics of blackberries and wild cherries woven together with spices, spring flowers, espresso, and earthy minerals all taking shape. On the palate this displays a lovely textural elegance as it continues to impress until the very end with its excellent balance, structure and wonderful length. A Merlot that is very well made in the 2016 vintage and should hit its stride in 3-5 years and gain complexity over the next 15 plus years.
