The 2017 ‘Collection Charles Giraud’ is an absolutely brilliant wine from Isabel Ferrando and is one of the most compelling releases to date. The domaines flagship wine is composed of 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre made from the oldest vines sourced from in two parcels, Les Serres, which features galets and gravel soil, and Le Cristia composed of sandy soils. The wine itself instantly draws you in with its fresh inviting aromatics of black raspberries and ripe dark cherries which are woven together with exotic spices topped with warm wet stones all emerging from the glass. On the palate this is simply stunning, displaying wonderful purity and offering a gorgeous medium-full body that is impeccably structured with incredible concentration and depth as well as wonderful finesse. Beautifully balanced and focused, this beauty has it all, as it walks the fine line of power and elegance all the way through the sensational finish. While this is already extremely appealing and clearly one of the most captivating wines from the vintage, there is no question this will only go on to have a long, illustrious future ahead.
