The 2014 La Sacrestia Barolo is a lovely showing from this challenging vintage. It begins with inviting aromatics of dried cherries and strawberries, which are followed by exotic spices, dried florals, crushed stones and hints of licorice that all emerge from the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied and beautifully structured with fine-grained tannins that grip firmly on the finish. While this is already quite appealing today, it should only become more compelling as it softens with additional bottle age.
