The 2014 Santagostino is a fantastic blend of Nero d’Avola and Syrah sourced from the Baglio Sorìa Estate in the Trapani countryside. The vineyards have a south/south-westerly exposure and are situated 200 meters above sea level. As for the wine itself, it opens to wonderful aromatics of cherries and wild berries which are woven together with spices, forest floor, herbs and licorice. On the palate this is medium-bodied with a gorgeous silky texture and beautiful overall balance through the finish. While this should offer short-term aging potential, there is no need to wait, it is drinking remarkably well today.
