The 2017 Alto Moncaya is sourced from vines between 40-70 years-old displays a lovely deep purple color followed by aromas of black cherries and boysenberries which are woven together with spices, toasted oak, violets and hints of herbs all take shape in the glass. On the palate this possesses a full-body with a supple, layered mouthfeel that is underlined by just enough acidity to provide a sense freshness. This continues to deliver ripe flavors of black fruits that are nuanced by sweet oak and spices which continue to build through the finish. A modern style Garnacha, with a ripe, fruit forward, hedonistic profile which many will find quite seductive.
