EVENING LAND VINEYARDS Pinot Noir, Seven Springs Estate 2017

The 2017 Seven Springs Pinot Noir comes from primarily from the oldest own-rooted block Pommard clones planted back in 1982 which are dry-farmed. The fruit was 90% de-stemmed, and aged in French oak for 16 months. As far as the wine itself it offers inviting aromas of black raspberries and dark cherries which are woven together with wild flowers, sweet spices and earthy minerals that all take shape in the glass. The palate is silky and shows notable depth, with a lavish texture that is kept balanced by a lovely touch of acidity that continues through the finish. This is the most modern style of the wines from evening land and also the most accessible of the range. This is quite delicious and drinking beautifully today, but should also offer a drinking window that span over a decade.
