The 2017 Les Carmes Haut-Brion is a fabulous showing in this vintage. Composed of 41% Cabernet Franc, 29% Merlot and the remainder Cabernet Sauvignon. It begins with gorgeous aromas of red and dark currants, violets, herbs, licorice, crushed stones and spices all taking shape. The palate is medium-boded, refined and beautifully structured with fine-tannins that grip hold on the finish. A absolutely gorgeous wine from winemaker Guillaume Pouthier, which should go on to offer a drinking window that could span two decades.
