The 2017 Château Pavie Macquin is composed of 80% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. As this begins to unwind in the glass it releases aromas of cherries and blueberries laved with wild lavender, spices, licorice and mineral nuances that all take shape in the glass. On the palate this possesses a medium body that is structured with finely polished tannins and that make for a lovely mouthfeel. Pure and bright, this goes on to display a nice combination of red fruits and floral characteristics through the lifted finish. This is a beautifully crafted wine, however it looks like it will need at least a few years of bottle age to all come together before it begins to show its best.
