The 2017 Château Pichon Lalande is one of the appellations top wines once again. Composed of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc this displays a simply stunning aromatics profile of red and dark currents, florals, tobacco, pencil lead, herbs and crushed stones all coming together beautifully in the glass. On the palate this possesses a wonderful medium-plus body with a firm structure and incredible overall balance. It shows incredible purity and poise as it heads into the long polished finish. This is nothing short of a remarkable success in this challenging vintage, and it should go on to evolve brilliantly for years to come.
