BIG TABLE FARM Chardonnay, Willamette Valley 'The Elusive Queen' 2018

The 2018 Elusive Queen, is a stunning Chardonnay from Big Table Farm's top barrels. The wine itself it is simply stunning as it offers up an intoxicating bouquet of ripe orchard fruits and tropical notes which come together with ripe lemon, wet stones, honeycomb and white flowers which all combine brilliantly in the glass. The palate is focused and vibrant as it displays wonderful balance, with bright acidity and a gorgeous texture that shows incredible depth. This continues to impress as the delicious flavors of lemon oil, ripe pear and minerals all combine and leave a lasting impression. While this is nothing short of fantastic today, it will be interesting to watch this evolve beautifully over the course of the next decade.

Consistently one of the most impressive Chardonnay wines made in Oregon, the 2018 'The Elusive Queen' from Big Table Farm is once again amongst the most compelling I have tasted from the vintage. As always, this Chardonnay is composed from a barrel selection which represent the best of the vintage, and the quality certainly reflects in the glass. This instantly draws you in with its stunning aromatics, focused around wonderful flinty, nutty and white truffle nuances that are woven together with shades of Bosc pear and lemon curd, which all take shape in the glass. On the palate is round and generous, showing a lovely silky texture with marvelous length and a gorgoeus seamless quality, as layers of lemon rind and kumquat mingle with nutmeg infused Challah bread and shades of Japanese pear. While this Chardonay is nothing short of fantastic its youth, it also has the poential to age beautifully for another decade or more.
