The 2018 Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon is an absolutely brilliant release from Tor in this vintage. The Cabernet was sourced from two F blocks, the furthest western blocks on the Oakville bench. It opens to deep aromatics which are fresh and inviting, with incredibly expressive nuances of black currants and blackberries which are layered with graphite, exotic spices, fresh cut violets, fresh sage, minerals and hints of dark chocolate shavings that all burst from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied and beautifully structured, showing a fabulous round, push texture that is utterly seamless. It possesses incredible depth, with a deeply layered core of gorgeous fresh ripe dark fruits that cascade on to the long impeccably polished finish. Overall, this is a completely thrilling bottle of Cabernet from Tor and his winemaking team that is delicious today, but should also go on to evolve incredibly well for many years to come.
