The 2018 Vine Hill Ranch 'Pure Magic' is a simply brilliant wine from Tor which was composed from a block of Petit Verdot and a block of Cabernet Sauvignon that were co-fermented together (53% Cabernet Sauvignon and 47% Petite Verdot). This instantly begins to impress with its striking aromatics of ripe black cherries, blackcurrants, dusty loam, sweet spices, fresh sage, dark chocolate, licorice, fresh cut violets and a wonderful sense of underlying minerality that all develops in the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied, expressive and impeccably structured, with beautifully polished tannins and an absolutely gorgeous plush mouthfeel that is framed by a ripe juicy core of fresh dark fruits and exotic spices which are underlined by streaks of iron that persist through the finish. Displaying incredible overall depth and concentration combined with beautiful pure fruit, this wine has it all. While it is utterly striking in its youth, it also possesses the potential to age for years to come.
