The 2017 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon from Favia is utterly brilliant in this vintage. Sourced from the rocky hillsides east of Oakville, this Cabernet opens to deep expressive aromas of ripe blackberries, blueberries and cassis which are joined by fresh violets, sweet spices, dusty loam, licorice, iron and a even a hint of black olive that all come together and burst from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied and incredibly structured with a dense, layered mouthfeel and a core of beautifully ripe black/blue fruit character with exotic spices, violets and iron that resonate through the wine. This goes on to impress with its incredible overall balance as well as remarkable concentration and opulence, while it continues to display striking freshness all the way through the explosive finish. Andy Erickson has crafted an absolutely sensational bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon that has it all, and looks to be one of the top wines from the entire vintage.
