BIG BASIN Syrah, Rattlesnake Rock Vineyard 2016

Sourced from the Rattlesnake Rock Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountians, this is a fantastic blend of 98% Syrah co-fermented with 2% Viognier. It opens with inviting aromatics of blackberries, dark currants, green olive and pepper which is accented by hints of black tea and crushed stones. The texture is lovely, as the wine unveils blackberries, orange rind, black tea and dark chcolate flavors that are framed by a nice combination of minerality and acidity. This is fantastic today, however it really begins to open nicely after extended air contact. This should age incredibly well over the next few years and offer a drinking window that spans over a decade.
