CHAPPELLET Cabernet Franc, Napa Valley 2017

The 2017 Cabernet Franc from Chappellet is composed of 72% Cabernet Franc, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1-% Malbec and 2% Petite Verdot which spent 22 months in French oak barrel (60% new). It begins with aromas of black cherries, blackberries and blueberries which are woven together with violets, smoldering tobacco, herbs and hints of baking spices which all develop in the glass. On the palate this is medium-full bodied and voluptuous, with an incredible seamless transition through the finish. While this is drinking incredibly well today, it should also develop some beautiful secondary characteristics over the course of the next decade.
