PURPLE HEART Red Wine, Sonoma County 2016

The 2016 Purple Heart Red is composed of 68% Merlot, 14% Zinfandel, 9% Petite Sirah, 8% Malbec. It opens to aromas of black raspberries and dark cherries which are woven together with hints of spices, cigar box, licorice and toasted oak. On the palate this medium-bodied red possesses a velvety texture and displays a nice core of red/dark fruit and sweet spice flavors that expand through the finish. While this is certainly approachable today, it should also continue to evolve nicely over the next year or two.
