The 2013 La Gerla 'Riserva gli Angeli' is a single-vineyard cru entirely from a one-hectare parcel of old vines nearly 30-years-old from the original Biondi-Santi site, located between 270 and 320 meters above sea level. The 'Riserva gli Angeli' is only made in select vintages and La Gerla has decided to bottle this fantastic Riserva in 2013. It instantly begins to impress as it opens to pretty aromatics of wild red berries, plums and fresh cut florals along with untertones of herbal and spice nuances. On the palate this possesses a gorgeous medium body which is structured with silky tannins underlined by a wonderful combination of acidity and minerality which persists through the long sleek finish. This is showing fabulous today and should go on to drink beautifully for at least another decade or more.
