The 2019 La Calla Nero d'Avola an lovely showing in this vintage. It begins to impress with its inviting aromas of fresh red berries which combine with exotic spices, earth, florals and herbs all emerging from the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied and well-balanced with a nice combination of fruit and acidity which persists through the spice-tinged finish. Overall, this is an delightful Nero d’Avola which is drinking beautifully today and should also evolve with some short-term cellaring.
