The 2017 ‘Artemis’ is composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 1% Malbec which was sourced from 33% Atlas Peak District; 11% Battuello Vineyard in St. Helena; 10% Arcadia Vineyard in Coombsville, 8% Twin Creeks Vineyard in Wooden Valley and a small amount from S.L.V. and FAY dmd spent 16 months, 43% new Oak (38% French, 5% American), balance in older French and American Oak. It immediately opens to inviting aromas of blackberries, cherries and red plums that are accented by dark chocolate, tobacco, cigar box, spices and hints of dried herbs. On the palate this is medium-bodied and beautifully structured with fine polished tannins. It goes on to display outstanding balance, with a wonderful combination of bright fruit that is framed by gorgeous underlying acidity keeping it fresh and inviting all the way through the velvety finish.
