The 2018 Tench Vineyard 'EE' Red Wine is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon which comes from Block 2A made up of homogenized red soils, along with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, which really accentuates the wine and adds notable depth and concentration. This begins to impress with its profound, dense aromas that jump from the glass, as blackberry reduction and crème de cassis liqueur give way to nuances of exotic spices, violets, black olives and mocha. On the palate this is full-bodied and multi-tiered, possessing remarkable depth and concentration while beautifully capturing the ripe character of the vintage. It goes on to deliver layers of ripe dark fruits that expand seamlessly from its ripe core and resonate through the long, opulent finish. Overall this is a flat-out delectable wine, which will be very accessible young, and should also evolve for many years in the cellar.
