The 2018 'The Grand Daddy' Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced out of the front of the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard and it is a total knockout in this vintage. This expressive and profound Cabernet immediately starts off displaying an impressive dark inky color, which is followed by seductive aromas of ripe dark currants, black cherries and even subtle hints of blueberries which are accompanied by fresh violets, dark chocolate, exotic spices, graphite and hints of loam that all take shape and burst from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied, layered and voluptuous, with outstanding overall depth and concentration. It goes on to impress as it displays a wonderful rich, seamless texture all the way through the supple finish. This is another truly brilliant wine from Carter Cellars in this vintage ans while it is already mesmerizing today, it should go on to evolve beautifully for decades.
