The 2019 Hyde Vineyard 'Cuvée Susan' Chardonnay from Tor is simply brilliant. It instantly impresses with its striking aromatics of quince, pineapple, lemon oil, vanilla blossoms, jasmine and crushed stones that all emerge from the glass. On the palate this displays stunning overall precision and focus with a beautiful textured mouthfeel that is impeccably balanced with the perfect touch of acidity and saline infused minerality which continues through the stunning finish. This is an absolutely beautiful Chardonnay that shows both elegance, weight, and precision. While this is already extremely accessible today, it also displays the potential to evolve gracefully for at least another decade.
