PASXA Syrah, Walla Walla Valley, The Rocks, River Rock Vineyard 2018

A new venture by Mike Martin of The Walls, and winemaker Todd Alexander of Force Majeure fame, these new wines will definitely become some of Washington’s most sought after Syrahs very soon. This blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier from the Rocks Vineyard sees 18 months in 35% new French oak barrels. A nose filled with blue raspberry, cigar box, roasted beef brisket, white and purple wildflowers and a touch of iodine flows out of the glass. Moving to the palate, you are greeted with explosive flavors of macerated blackberry, black peppered salami, Early Gray tea, cacao nibs and a wonderful note of singed radicchio. It is explosive on the finish with ripe tannins, high acidity - a wine that is balanced with both savory and fruit notes. This wine is beautiful to drink now and will only get better with time.
