The Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a simply fantastic release and wonderful glimpse into Larkmead’s beautifully refined 2018’s. It is composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon along with 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, which was sourced from the three different soils types in Larkmead’s vineyards, Cortina (Gravel), Bale Loam (Sand), Pleasanton Loam (Clay). This begins to impress with fresh aromas of dark cherries, redcurrants and blackberries, which come together with fresh cut florals, exotic spices, tobacco, savory herbs, graphite and crushed gravel nuances. This goes on to impress as it displays a gorgeous medium-plus body that is beautifully structured with fine, polished tannins that make for a finessed texture. It possesses outstanding focus and definition, with precise concentration and remarkable overall balance all the way through the graceful finish. The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon showcases all the wonderful characteristics of Larmead in this vintage, elegance, finesse and refinement. While this offers immediate appeal in its youth, it should also go onto age gracefully at least two decades.
