The 2018 Kapcsándy 'Rapszodia' is made from 100% Cabernet Franc that was sourced from the State Lane Vineyard and it is a fabulous showing in this vintage. This begins to impress as it releases its fresh and inviting aromas of black/redcurrants and dark cherries that are joined by fresh florals, tobacco, spices, fresh mint, as well as underlying mineral nuances of graphite and crushed gravel. On the palate this medium to full-bodied Cabernet Franc displays wonderful overall balance with a gorgeous combination of acidity and minerality. The firm, polished tannins hold everything together beautifully through the long finish. This is an impeccably made wine that displays incredible restraint, elegance and a wonderful sense of vibrancy in its youth. That said, patience will be rewarded, as this looks to be a perfect candidate for long-term cellaring, and should go on to become even more compelling as it evolves gracefully for decades.
