Carobric comes from Three of Scavino’s best terroirs: mainly Rocche di Castiglione vineyard (in Castiglione Falletto) blended with smaller percentages of Cannubi (in Barolo) and the Fiasco vineyard (in Castiglione Falletto). Each Single vineyard is aged separately in neutral French oak barrels for 12 months and further 12 months in large casks. The 2017 is a gorgeous showing that instantly begins with aromas of red berries, strawberries and cherries woven together with eucalyptus, exotic spices, wet stones and hints of crushed walnuts all taking shape. Palate is medium-bodied with a lovey finessed mouthfeel that displays incredible overall balance and focus. Everything comes together beautifully as it tightens up a bit and lingers on the long graceful finish. While this is approachable today, it is sure to have a wonderful future ahead.
