The 2018 PYCM Chevalier-Montrachet is utterly breathtaking in this vintage. This stunning wine slowly begins to unwind in the glass revealing its elegant, fresh and reductive aromatics of ripe Asian pears and Meyer lemons that are beautifully woven together with sweet honeysuckle, hazelnut, flint, sea spray and crushed stones which all emerge from the glass. On the palate this possesses a simply gorgeous mouthfeel with a wonderful opulent texture that is cut by the vibrant underlying acidity. It continues to impress as it remains incredibly focused while delivering delicious flavors of pear, lemon, honeysuckle and hazelnuts that are framed by saline minerals which all come to an end with remarkable precision. This is a simply striking wine from Pierre-Yves Colin, which is already expressing itself beautifully in its youth, however this can easily go on to age gracefully for decades.
