RAMEY WINE CELLARS Chardonnay, Westside Farms 2018

Westside Farms runs along the bank of the Russian River. The vines here are planted in Yolo sandy loam and are situated in a north-south orientation, resulting in an excellent east-west sun exposure. The site is low lying and morning fog settles over the vines keeping the vines cool, allowing the fruit to retain its natural acidity. This is evident in this 2018 Chardonnay, as it begins with gorgeous fresh aromatics of orchard fruits, Meyer lemon and pineapple nuances which are laced with floral blossoms and salty minerals adding further complexity. This shows remarkable overall balance and focus while remaining vibrant through the very end. This is a beautiful chardonnay from David Ramey in this vintage that is showing excellent upon release, but should also offer a drinking window that spans a decade long.
