The 2018 ‘Avoylles’ is a complete knockout from Tony Biagi. It is composed of a blend of 48% Cabernet Franc, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot. This begins with aromas that are simply striking, offering dark cherries and crème de cassis that sit alongside tobacco, spices, pencil shavings, cocoa powder and iron nuances that all emerge from the glass. On the palate this is just as impressive, with its full-bodied richness and big polished tannins that are beautifully integrated and provide excellent structure. This possesses tremendous concentration and depth, with a gorgeous layered mouthfeel and long opulent finish. The 2018 Avoylles is just fantastic and while it is already showing incredibly well, it should also have a wonderful evolution ahead.
