The 2018 Anthem Mount Veeder Estate Merlot begins with inviting aromas of cherries, plums and blueberries which are joind by exotic spices, wild herbs, cigar box and cocoa all taking shape. The palate is medium-plus bodied and well-structured with grainy tannins. It possesses a bright core that bursts with flavors of bing cherries and blackberries as it shows a level of restraint through the finish. Overall, this is a lovely showing which I expect will develop beautifully in bottle over the next few years and go on to offer a drinking window that spans nearly two decades.
