The Red Hen Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is another serious single vineyard expression from La Pelle in this vintage. It displays incredible intensity, as it immediately bursts open with aromatics of blueberries, blackberries and red plums, which are woven together with fresh violets, tilled-soil, exotic spices, dusty graphite and a lovely touch of underlying sweet toasted oak. The palate is full-bodied, layered and velvety with outstanding overall structure and concentration. This goes on to impress as it displays a sense of freshness that continues all the way through the beautifully polished, ultra-long finish. Powerful and intense, the Red Hen is already a wine to behold, however it should also thrive in the cellar for decades.
