The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is a sensational showing from this vintage. It offers gorgeous aromatics of fresh sweet dark cherries and plums woven together with spices, floral and underlying hints of tar and fresh mushrooms. On the palate this is medium-plus bodied and nicely structured with silky tannins and lovely acidity keeping it fresh and inviting. It continues to impress with its remarkable overall balance and focus as it heads into the long, pretty finish, which is laced with red fruits and spices. While this is already extremely impressive, it also shows the potential to thrive in the cellar over the next decade.
