The 2019 Beckstoffer Georges III 'Empyrean' is nothing short of absolutely stunning. As this unwinds in the glass it releases inviting aromas of ripe blueberries, dark cherries and plums, which are woven together with nuances of dark cocoa, loam, graphite, fresh cut violets and sweet spices that all flow from the glass. The palate is full-bodied and structured with big dusty tannins that beautifully beautifully frame its ripe core. It displays remarkable overall depth and complexity through the long, seductive finish. This is another sensational wine from Mike Smith in this vintage and it should go on to offer years of drinking pleasure ahead. What a beauty!
