MODUS OPERANDI Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 'Collection' 2019

The 2019 'Collection' Cabernet Sauvignon is the most exclusive wine from Modus Operandi with only 50 cases produced. The wine is aged in barrels made from rare french oak sourced from a "heritage" tree. These trees are an average of 350 to 375 years and are so unique they are given their own name and identity. The tree that was used for the 2019 was called Futaie Artistique 1655-2009. As far as the wine itself it instantly begins to impress with profound aromas of dark currants and black cherries which are laced with pencil shavings, coffee, toasted sweet spices, and hints of dried tobacco all bursting from the glass. This boasts a wonderful full body that is backed by rich velvety tannins and a gorgeous opulent texture. It continues to display outstanding depth and concentration, as bold flavors of dark fruits and lovely sweet toasted nuances continue to expand through the beautifully layered finish. While this is already absolutely sensational, it should also offer a lenghty drinking window that will span the course of two decades.
