The 2020 Don Melchor is simply brilliant, and amongst one of the most impressive releases ever from the iconic estate. Composed of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 1% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, this begins with gorgeous aromatics of ripe currants, dark cherries and hints of cassis, that are accented by violets, pipe tobacco, sweet exotic spices and peppery herbs that all explode from the glass. The palate is every bit as impressive, as it offers a wonderful full-bodied texture, that is fresh, expressive and layered with beautifully ripe dark fruits. It continues to impress with its striking overall balance that leads up to the polished finish. Overall, this is an absolutely stunning wine, that will be accessible on release, however it will also have an extremely bright future ahead.
