GRAMERCY CELLARS Syrah, Forgotten Hills Vineyard 2013

The 2013 Gramercy Cellars 'Forgotten Hills Vineyard' Syrah is another fantastic new release wine by Gramercy. Set on basalt, the Forgotten Hills Vineyard is located at the bottom of the Blue Mountains, very near the Les Collines vineyard in Walla Walla. Weighing in at 13.5% alcohol, the wine was aged 18 months in neutral oak puncheons prior to bottling. This dense colored wine begins with aromas reminiscent of smoked pork shoulder, tar, blackberry and black olive. The palate has a slightly stony accent with black cherry, black olive, and roasted figs alongside milk chocolate. The aromatics become exceedingly developed after more than two hours in the decanter. This is very difficult to resist right now. Only 212 cases made, so grab this while you can. (Best 2016-2026) - April, 2016 (OB)
