The 2012 Barolo 'Campè' from La Spinetta is a sensational showing in this vintage. As this begins to open it releases alluring aromas of ripe strawberries and red cherries woven together with exotic spices, floral, wild herbs and even picking some hints of sweets spices with extended air contact. This mouthwatering Barolo demonstrates remarkable finesse and definition as it is supported by gorgeous fine-grained, silky tannins, which are beautifully polished and seamlessly work their way on to the long, precise finish. Although this age-worthy Barolo is already extremely attractive, I expect it to become even more compelling as it continues to take on additional complexities over the next decade and beyond.
