RAMEY WINE CELLARS Cabernet Sauvignon, Pedregal Vineyard 2013

Pedregal is a small, hillside vineyard on the lower slopes of eastern Oakville where Clone 7 Cabernet Sauvignon vines are planted on St. George and 110R rootstock. The 2013 Pedregal Cabernet from David Ramey is an absolutely majestic wine, which is composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot. It instantly captivates you as it releases its seductive aromas of ripe black cherries, dark currants along with an array of sweet spices, spring floral and some dried sage to name a few. On the palate this is full-bodied, rich and voluptuous, while demonstrating remarkable power at its core. It continues to impress with deep layers of gorgeous dark fruits and sweet spices which cascade on to the long, supple finish. Although this is simply exceptional today, the 2013 Pedregal Cabernet Sauvignon is still in its infancy and patience will be rewarded as this will continue to drink beautifully for many years to come. The consistent quality David Ramey is able to bring with his Pedregal Cabernet year after year is simply astonishing. (Best 2020-2036) - June, 2016 (JD)
