The 2014 Pichon Lalande is a total beauty, and one of the most impressive wines from the vintage. This outstanding blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot slowly opens to striking aromas of ripe blackberries and dark cherries layered with earth, roasted coffee, charcoal, tobacco and spring florals which are absolutely intoxicating. Medium to full-bodied, this impresses with its outstanding balance and finesse, which continues through the long, polished finish. While this will ultimately require at least a few more years of bottle age before it begins to hit it stride, the quality and pedigree of the Château is already quite apparent. A simply brilliant wine, which will thrive in the cellar for many years. (Best 2022-2036) - October, 2017 (JD)
