ALHEIT VINEYARDS 'Cartology' 2016

Another sensational showing from Chris Alheit, the 2016 Cartology is composed of 89% Chenin Blanc from Skurfberg, Perdeberg, Bottelary, False Bay and Botrivier and 11% Semillion from the old La Colline block in Franschhoek. This gorgeous wine opens to aromatics of orchard fruits, citrus zest, dried jasmine, honey blossoms and crushed stone nuances. On the palate this is elegant with lovely vibrancy, yet shows remarkable depth with an impressive balance of ripe fruit, minerality and acidity keeping it fresh and inviting. While this is drinking beautifully now, this is sure to have a lovely evolution over the next decade. (Best 2017-2026) - November, 2017 (JD)
