The 2014 Three Palms Vineyard Merlot is a wonderful showing in this vintage from Duckhorn. As this begins to unwind in the glass it releases inviting aromatics of ripe black cherries, crème de cassis, mocha, coffee grounds and cigar box all taking shape. There is a wonderful seamless quality to this wine, as it literally glides effortlessly across the palate leaving behind flavors of cigar box, anise, crème de cassis and black cherry pie which are underlined subtle streaks of acidity, all leading up to the long, plush finish. This polished effort will cellar well for a decade or more, however if approaching in its youth be sure to allow this extended air time. (Best 2017-2033) - December, 2017 (OB)
